Freakin' Weirdos

OK, if you notice an absence of photos of the boys - they're gone.

Thanks to statcounter I was able to view the search string of some sicko that's likely to show up on Dateline sometime soon. Popped the sicko straight to my blog. I ain't happy.

So I am working my way through the blog to take the photos off. If you're friends and family, I will make sure to email one out from time to time. I started this blog for friends and family, so they could view photos at their leisure, without me filling up the mailbox. I try to retain our anomynity (sp?) but when you got sickos with sick search strings stopping by your blog for a visit - well, I have to protect the boys.

So, I will still blog, but won't be posting children photos. This might be for the best, as I was thinking about starting a separate blog for photography so I could participate in Photo Friday without drawing a lot of stranger traffic to a family blog - well, now I won't worry about that.

I did the same thing a while ago. I took all pictures of my kids down from my blog and I stopped posting pics of them. I don't blame you one bit.

How can you tell who is looking at it (or I guess the question is, do I need to take down our pics?)?

What search string led them to you?

Kristen - I don't know who was looking at it. The search string was four words that, separately are innocent enough, but all strung together (without quotations - this does not appear as a phrase on my blog) it's enough to cause concern. Do you use statcounter or anything similar? It's good to know where traffic is coming from and how they're getting there.
RBelle - I don't want to put the search string here, as I don't want to send more folks with that string or similar to my blog. Do you have my email from comments on your blog? If so, email me and I will respond with the search string. Maybe I am being paranoid but it made me sick, and with everything you hear on the news these days...

You never know who is visiting your blog. On my sitemeter, I can see what people are searching for and how they get to my blog. It can be unsettling sometimes, especially folks searching for porn sites.
I don't blame you one bit, Emily.

Wow, that's scary. I'm glad you figured it out.

I saw something on the new blogger (the thing they're trying to get me to upgrade to) about setting up blogs as private for family and friends. I think it works so there's a password or you approve viewers or something. Don't know if that would be easier or not. Yuck.

I have had recent doubts about putting pics of my girls up on Flickr. In fact, today I posted a picture of Caitlin from yesterday but it is private, for friends and family only.

Also, I read recently on a photography blog that people are using Flickr basically like a free stock photography site! (she is a professional photographer and a picture she had taken, I believe of her daughter, was being used commercially by an Ebay store)
